Populations most heavily impacted by the climate crisis are at increased risk of poor mental health and psychosocial well-being. This seminar will describe research on mental health and psychosocial support and the climate crisis through study specific examples. Future directions at the intersection of mental health and the climate crisis will be explored and opportunities for research, practice, and policy in this area will be highlighted.

Jura Augustinavicius
Chercheuse au CReSP et professeure adjointe à l'École de santé des populations et de santé mondiale de l'Université McGill. 

Jura Augustinavicius is an Assistant Professor at the School of Population and Global Health at McGill University. Dr. Augustinavicius is also affiliated with the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and serves as a Research Advisor and Lead on Climate Change at the MHPSS Collaborative hosted by Save the Children Denmark. Using applied psychiatric epidemiology and mixed-methods approaches for mental health research and practice, Dr. Augustinavicius’ research focuses on mental health assessment and intervention among populations living in humanitarian settings and settings heavily impacted by climate change. 

Patrick Cloos 
Chercheur au CReSP et professeur à l'École de travail de social de la Faculté des arts et des sciences et à l'École de santé publique, Université de Montréal. 

Le chercheur est présentement impliqué dans plusieurs projets de recherche portant sur: la situation et les difficultés vécues par les nouveaux-arrivants haïtiens à Montréal depuis le séisme ayant frappé Haïti en janvier 2010; le discours portant sur l' immigration caribéenne au Québec; les déterminants de la santé/accès aux soins des personnes migrantes sans assurance médicale, Montréal; les obstacles liés à l'installation des réfugiés et demandeurs d'asile au Québec; sur la résilience des systèmes de santé et des migrations dans un contexte de changement climatique; et sur la réponse sanitaire au COVID-19 (Brésil, Quebec, France et Mali).
